Trump's Administrations on Immigration Problems

In response to the article: Trump Tears Up the Welcome Mat by The Editorial Board of The New Your Times news, I would like to clarify and point out several points the authors made about how Trump’s new administrations have an impact on U.S immigration system, especially on refugees and asylum visa category, the purpose of the article, as well as my opinion about it and Trump’s new administrations.
First of all, the authors inform the readers about how president Trump’s latest administration cut down the number of immigrants who are accepted for refugee visa type from 30,000 last year to 18,000 this year. That is a dramatic reduction in terms of visa allowance for asylum and refugee visa seekers. Next, the author made several points about how this administration seems against the traditional American’s democracy throughout “The Trump administration has systematically acted to bar as many refugees and asylum seekers as possible, virtually from its first day, supplanting America’s traditional welcome to the world’s desperate people with a spirit of xenophobia and bigotry”. By using the words “xenophobia” and “bigotry”, it clearly can be seen that the authors are more in a disagree side of Trump’s new administration, and they seem to be skeptical about it. Also, the writers pointed out that the administration threatens immigrants to stay away from America, a welcoming land for immigrants and refugees, and that is opposed to the traditional American’s democracy. By supporting this argument, the author pointed out several evidences that it do so: the administration also threatened to end “temporary protected status”; it suspended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program; and it has deported immigrants without regard their family and community. The authors also support their arguments by using statistic number and links to different article which are pretty compelling.
In my opinion, I think that this article is very successful in terms of convincing the readers about how Trump’s approach might lead to a downside for the U.S, making it face with more obstacles. I agree with the article that cutting down the number of legal immigrants would not make America great again. However, it can turn out hurting the country fundamental virtue: a land of immigrants to the greatness of the United States. In fact, cutting down the number of legal immigrants will decrease the contributions to the country in terms of diversity, work industries, as well as the economy. Trump’s administration does not make any much America safer, yet, it creates a much more xenophobic and less welcoming country.
